This course is an entry-level qualification to provide you with professional skills required to enter the aged care industry, an industry rich with career opportunities.
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgment in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.
Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
This qualification may be accessed by direct entry, Although, It is highly recommended that the student:
- have satisfactory numeracy and literacy capabilities
- are mature age

Students must have the following prior to commencing practical placement
- National Police Check
- Medical Clearance may also be required
To complete this qualification you will need to complete:

A total number of units: 13
- 7 core units
- 6 elective units [consisting of at least 4 units from the electives below, at least 2 units must be from those units listed under groups A, B or C]

Suggested Elective Units
Elective units can be selected specifically for the following specialisations.
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Home & Community Care)
Vocational Placement
To be assessed as competent in the Certificate III in Individual Support, students are required to undertake 120 hours of supervised work placement in a Aged Care facility. Intech Institute may be able to assist with the coordination of student vocational placements. During the workplace training, students will be able to practice their skills and knowledge in real workplace settings.
Students will also be required to complete a Police check, you may be required to complete a manual handling training prior to commencing your placement at the chosen facility.
Duration: This course is conducted over a 53 week delivery, this includes term breaks.
Timetable: Monday- Wednesday + Fast track options available (The timetable for future intakes may differ to the current schedule.)
Delivery Method: is a combination classroom delivery (face-to-face). Competencies will be assessed by theory tests, practical tasks and project work.
Delivery Location: Course is delivered on-site at our Brisbane Campus: 21 Parkview Street, Milton, QLD.

For each unit, candidates will be given the option to demonstrate competency through a combination of any of the following:
- A Portfolio of Evidence which includes:
– Prior Qualifications (accredited and non-accredited)
– Employment History (detailed, positions, performance, appraisals)
– Work samples and other relevant documents (photos, videos, etc.)
– References and testimonials from verifiable sources
– Journals and publications - Practical testing in the workshop/classroom
- Written/Verbal Testing

Fees: AUD $8,000.00 -no hidden fee
The tuition fees as published are subject to change annually given individual circumstances at enrolment and a number of other factors.
Payment Plan
If you have difficulty paying the full fee of a course upfront you might be eligible for a payment plan. This allows you to pay for your course either per semester or in monthly installments.
