CAREER BOOST PROGRAM

Career Boost aims to help individuals gain the higher-level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries, or to transition to university to continue their studies. Employers may also access training to address workforce development needs.

InTech Institute of Technology is an approved training provider delivering subsidised training under Career Boost from 2025 to 2028. The program is funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).

The program provides eligible individuals with access to one subsidised training place in a priority Certificate IV level or above qualification, plus up to two priority skill sets.

Career Boost offers either a general training pathway or employment-based apprenticeship or traineeship pathway.

Eligibility

Under Career Boost, a student may access either:

one subsidised training place in either a certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma qualification under the general training pathway; or
a higher-level apprenticeship/traineeship in a certificate IV or above.

In addition, under Career Boost, students may access 2 subsidised skill sets in priority industries or sectors.

If the student has already accessed 2 apprenticeships/traineeships through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT) or Career Start within the last 10 years, they are not eligible to undertake an apprenticeship/traineeship under Career Boost.

A student cannot complete two qualifications under Career Boost.

Am I eligible?

General Training Pathway

To access funded training under Career Boost you’ll need to:

be aged 15 or older and no longer in school;
permanently reside in Queensland;
be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), a New Zealand citizen, or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency; and
not already hold, and not be currently enrolled in, a Certificate IV or higher qualification completed in the last 10 years (this requirement does not apply if you’re enrolling in a skill set).

Am I eligible?

Apprenticeship/Traineeship Pathway

To receive government subsidised training, the apprentice or trainee must:

not be a school student
be currently employed in Queensland under a registered training contract, in an approved apprenticeship or traineeship qualification funded through this program (this requirement does not apply to individuals enrolling in a skill set)
not be enrolled in another DTET-funded qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, (foundation skills qualifications and self-funded/fee-for-service qualifications do not impact eligibility).
not have completed a Certificate IV or higher qualification, including university studies, in the past 10 years (qualifications completed at school, and foundation skills qualifications, don’t impact eligibility)
not have completed more than 2 government-funded apprenticeships or traineeships within the last 10 years, including school-based apprenticeships or traineeships.

CO-CONTRIBUTION FEE

How much does it cost?

Students pay a co-contribution fee as specified and the rest of the tuition fee is covered by the subsidy program funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).

The fee is set $1000.00 for non-concessional students.

Concessional student fee is set at $450.00.

How do I qualify for concession fees?

Concessional student status applies when:

The student holds a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law or is the partner or a dependent of a person who holds a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and is named on the card
The student provides InTech with an official form under Commonwealth law confirming that the student, their partner or the person of whom the student is a dependant is entitled to concessions under a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
The student is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
The student has a disability
the Participant is an adult prisoner.

Application Process - Apprenticeship or Traineeship Pathway

Check that you meet the Career Start eligibility criteria listed above.
Review the course information and contact us if you need clarification on the course, policies, procedures or entry requirements.
Arrange an appointment with your employer and an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider.
Complete the apprenticeship/traineeship sign-up process with the Apprentice Connect Australia Provider, nominating InTech Institute of Technology as your preferred RTO.
Complete InTech’s online Enrolment Application form.
Your employer pays your co-contribution fee.
InTech’s Program Coorindator will assesses your application and you receive a written response within 2–3 working days.
An induction is completed with your employer to sign and formalise your training plan.
Commence your training.

InTech will assesses your eligibility and confirm your co-contribution fee.
Pay your co-contribution fee and complete your enrolment.
Commence your study.

Support Services

InTech provides a range of support services for learners to achieve their study goals. Learners who have been identified with learning barriers are supported with agreed strategies. The range can include:

referral to English Language Support or literacy and/or numeracy courses
individual or small group tutorial support
provision of additional resources, including but not limited to video/DVDs, online learning libraries, additional workshops, tutorials, slow paced learning

On Successful Completion

You will be provided with a qualification and a Record of Results on successful completion of the course.

If you do not complete the qualification, you will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for the units you have completed.

As a condition of your enrolment, you will be asked to complete a student training and employment survey within three months of finishing or discontinuing your training.
