Career Start provides a Queensland Government funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queenslanders beginning their career.
InTech Institute of Technology is an approved training provider delivering subsidised training under Career Start from 2025 to 2028. The program is funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).
The program provides the flexibility to enrol directly in an entry-level qualification, or to train as an apprentice or trainee with your employer while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Qualifications completed at school and foundation skills qualifications don’t count toward these limits. Eligibility and your remaining funded entitlement are confirmed at enrolment.
Apprenticeships & Traineeships
The co-contribution fee is set at $1.60 per nominal training hour for each unit of competency.
The total is based on the nominal hours allocated to each unit of competency in your qualification. Fees may be paid on enrolment or before the commencement of each unit, and may be paid by your employer or a third party if agreed.
A reduced fee of 40% of the standard amount applies if the apprentice or trainee meets certain criteria (for example, holds a Health Care, Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card or is a named partner/dependent of someone who does; identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; or is under 17 at the end of February, not at school and has not completed Year 12).
A full fee exemption may apply where serious financial hardship can be demonstrated.
General Training Pathway
A co-contribution fee of $80 applies for non-consessional enrolments under General Traning Pathway. Concessional student fee is set at $20.
The Student Contribution Fee may be paid on behalf of the student by their employer.
There are two ways to train under Career Start:
1. General Training Pathway – You enrol directly in a qualification – no employer or training contract required.
2. Apprenticeship or Traineeship – You must be employed as an apprentice or trainee under a registered training contract, with your employer and InTech (as your supervising RTO) sharing responsibility for your training.
InTech provides a range of support services for learners to achieve their study goals. Learners who have been identified with learning barriers are supported with agreed strategies. The range can include:
You will be provided with a qualification and a Record of Results on successful completion of the course.
If you do not complete the qualification, you will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for the units you have completed.
As a condition of your enrolment, you will be asked to complete a student training and employment survey within three months of finishing or discontinuing your training.
