Our students also get the opportunity for work placements with major second-hand retailers and garages in the area.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of servicing tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. This program will suit you if you have very little knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics and want to learn how to service vehicles and take on supervisory roles.
With this course, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of servicing operations on light vehicles, heavy vehicles and/or motorcycles within an automotive service or repair business.
The Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology is intended to prepare new employees or recognize existing workers performing servicing and maintenance of vehicles in an automotive service or repair business.
This qualification may be accessed by direct entry, Although, It is highly recommended that the student:
- have satisfactory numeracy and literacy capabilities
- are mature age and
- have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake this course.

Duration: This course is conducted over a 15-week delivery, this includes term breaks.
Timetable: Monday- Friday + Work placement optional (The timetable for future intakes may differ to the current schedule.)
Delivery Method: is a combination of classroom delivery (face-to-face) and industry placement (optional). Competencies will be assessed by theory tests, practical tasks and project work. You’ll also produce a portfolio of work.
Delivery Location: Course is delivered on-site at our Brisbane Campus: 21 Parkview Street, Milton, QLD.
Resources provided: Student will receive handouts/learning material relevant to each unit, Safety boots and Intech T-shirt on the induction day. We also recommend that the students wear protective clothing, safety glasses suited to the automotive industry.
Work Placements: Students are encouraged to seek industry work experience to gain the maximum benefit from the course. The greater the practice of skills, the higher the skill levels the student will achieve and the more likely the student will not only meet but exceed the learning outcomes. InTech may assist in securing industry work placements – conditions apply.

For each unit, candidates will be given the option to demonstrate competency through a combination of any of the following:
- A Portfolio of Evidence which includes:
– Prior Qualifications (accredited and non-accredited)
– Employment History (detailed, positions, performance, appraisals)
– Work samples and other relevant documents (photos, videos, etc.)
– References and testimonials from verifiable sources
– Journals and publications - Practical testing in the workshop/classroom
- Written/Verbal Testing

Intake Dates: There are 4 intake dates in a year: Jan-Feb, April-May, July & September-October

Pathways into the qualification:
Credit may be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation or other relevant qualifications.
Further Progression: Students can progress onto a higher level course within Intech Institute. We offer a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology within the Automotive course programs.
