Advance your skills by performing detailed mechanical engineering drafting and design and administering the maintenance and installation of a range of machinery.
Domestic students can develop their skills through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. This includes a mix of on and off-the-job training that will be specified in the Training Plan associated with the Contract of Training between the employer and apprentice.
International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.
Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.
Existing engineers currently employed in the industry may be eligible to complete the program through:
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or
- QLD Government Funded Program (QLD residents only)
This course will give students a deeper knowledge in engineering concepts. It will involve the study of science and mathematics. Students will get real engineering work experience by taking part in realistic projects using our industry parallel computing facilities and student mechanical workshop.
Students will learn and apply higher level post-trade skills including:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process of having your knowledge, work experience and skills formally assessed for the purpose of gaining a nationally recognised and accredited qualification. InTech offers you the chance to transfer your skills and experience and turn it into an Advanced Diploma of Engineering!
The benefits of RPL:
- Save money – RPL is a much cheaper alternative than full-time study
- Save time – RPL allows you to achieve the qualification as soon as you can provide the satisfactory skills and experience
- RPL gives overseas skilled workers the opportunity to transfer their overseas skills and experience into an Australian qualification. This may be used to apply for jobs in Australia or apply for migration.
- RPL identifies gaps in your skills which can be translated into a training plan to meet the requirements of a specific job role or to achieve the full qualification
- Apply for further study or accreditation
If you are considering study or further training, think about what existing skills and industry experience you already have as you may be eligible to apply for an RPL.
To successfully achieve an RPL, you must be able to demonstrate your skills towards each unit of competency in the qualification and show work currency to ensure it aligns with current industry standards.
As part of the RPL application process, candidates must provide the following types of evidence:
- Portfolio of Evidence
- Prior qualifications (accredited and non-accredited)
- Employment history (detailed, positions, performance, appraisals)
- Visual evidence (photos and videos) demonstrating your skillset
- Work samples and other relevant documents
- References and testimonials from verifiable sources
- Journals and publications
- Practical testing in the workshop or classroom (if necessary)
- Written/verbal testing (if necessary)
InTech will assist and guide you through the RPL process. We will provide initial feedback on the RPL at no cost to you to determine your success rate and any gaps in your skills.
Find out more about the RPL process and begin the RPL process by filling out an application form here!
