This qualification will prepare individuals to become a specialist in the cyber security sector. Students will learn various cyber security responsibilities including managing system security frameworks, penetration testing and implementing secure encryption technologies.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course however, participants are best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have completed:

  • 22334VIC Certificate IV in Cyber Security or equivalent or
  • Minimum 2 years cyber security work experience

In addition, participants should have demonstrated capacity in the learning, reading, writing and numeracy competencies to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Domestic Students
English and language, literacy and numeracy skills.

International Students
English Language Proficiency – must demonstrate minimum language skills.

Other criteria is determined by the Australian Department of Home Affairs (i.e. satisfying Visa requirements)

RPL Students
Demonstrate previous and/or current work history. See RPL section for more information.

To be awarded the 22445 VIC Advanced Diploma of Cyber Security, the following twenty (20) units of competency must be achieved.

VU22245 Plan and implement a cyber security project
VU22246 Evaluate an organisation’s compliance with relevant cyber security standards and law

Teaching and assessment

Domestic Students (Full-Time)
As a domestic student, you will attend face-to-face classes, Monday to Friday, on Intech campus. Compulsory 75% attendance is required.

International Students
As an international student, you will attend face-to-face classes, Monday to Friday, on Intech campus. Compulsory 75% attendance is required under student visa conditions. InTech operates on a 10-week term. There are 4 terms per year. All classes are scheduled for 20 hours per week.

RPL Students
Attend classes only if skills gaps identified.

Skillset and Micro Courses
Attend face-to-face classes at InTech campus.

Resources Provided
Students attending full-time classes will receive handouts/learning material relevant to each unit on induction day.

On induction /orientation day, students will receive:

  • Overview of each unit of competency
  • Methods of assessment
  • Student handbook
  • Training plan and schedule
  • Internship details and journal
  • Textbooks and study materials
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) overview
  • Work placement support
RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning is a process of having your work experience and skills formally assessed for the purpose of gaining a nationally recognised and accredited qualification. InTech offers you the chance to transfer your skills and experience and turn it into a Advanced Diploma of Cyber Security!

Candidates can demonstrate their skills through a combination of:

  • Portfolio of Evidence
    • Prior qualification (accredited and non-accredited)
    • Employment history (detailed, positions, performance, appraisals)
    • Work samples and other relevant documents (photos, videos, etc.)
    • References and testimonials from verifiable sources
    • Journals and publications
  • Practical testing in the workshop or classroom (if necessary)
  • Written/verbal testing (if necessary)

*To apply for an RPL to the Advanced Diploma of Cyber Security, you must have actively worked or are currently working in the cyber security sector for a minimum of 3 years.
